COYOTE UGLYで「ONEWAY ANOTHER」がとても気になったので、その曲が入っているアルバムを探して、曲の多さとリリースの新しさでこれに決めました。

恥ずかしながらそれまでBlondieを知らなかったですが、聞いてみたら知ってる曲ばっかり。
きっとものすごい有名なんですよね。USではつい先日AmericanIdolたちが歌っていました。

iPodに入れてイマドキの音楽たちに混ぜて聞いてもさほど違和感は感じず、過剰ではない演奏やボーカルが逆に新鮮に聞こえることもあります。
声が低くて野太い感じの女性ボーカルは苦手だったのですが、このバンドにおいてはそれが魅力の一つなのだと納得できます。

私は、1980年からのストーンズファン。初めて聴いたレコードがSome Girls。
それから彼らの過去の時代を遡り＆聴きまくり、以降の時代は今に至るまでそのまま一緒。

このＤＶＤで特に感動した曲は、

She Was Hot　・・・　映像で初めて観ることができた。夢がかないました。
Some Girls　・・・　昔、海賊版の音源でしか聴いたことがなかった。今やるとこんな
　　　　　　　　　　　　アレンジなんだなぁ。
Faraway Eyes　・・・　同上。
Under Cover Of The Night　・・・　この曲、ライブでやるんだ？って感じ。ちゃんと
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　チャーリーも嫌な顔しないでドラム叩いていた。
You Got The Silver　・・・　Keithが歌っているのを観るのは初めて。感動。
Champagne and Reefer　・・・　Buddy Guyとの曲。　伝説同士の対決。言葉にならない。
Live With Me　・・・　Christina Aguileraとの曲。　うまい。1988年東京ドームでの
　　　　　　　　　　　　Mick＆Tina Turnerのパフォーマンスを思い出しました。

です。

あとは、Jumpin' Jack Flash、Brown Sugar、Start Me Up、Sympathy for the Devil、
Satisfaction　とかいつものやつ。　これらももちろんいいです。

かつてリリースされたブロンディSingleＢＯＸのリイシュー盤で、
全シングルのＡＢ面をディスク２枚にコンパイルし、価格もダウンした決定版です。
貴重なバージョンが満載で、
Sunday Girl - French Version
Call Me - 12" Version
などが、リマスターで楽しめますよ！！
ただ疑問なのは、One Way or Another、The Hardest Part、
などいくつかのシングルは未収録です。
完璧なシングル集ではないようですが、十分楽しめる内容なので、
SingleＢＯＸには手が出せなかったファン必携の企画だと思います。
同じ企画で、Duran DuranのSingleＢＯＸもＣＤ３枚コンパイル盤が出ていますので、
合わせて買いたいですね！！

軌跡!ザ・ベスト・オブ・ブロンディ

疾風のように駆け抜けたバンド「ブロンディ」のベスト盤。「Call Me」の衝撃的サウンドとデボラのセクシー・ボイスで日本でも一躍人気を博したが、こうして見ると幅広いジャンルをカバーしている事が分かる。

アメリカではニューウェイヴに分類されているらしいが、「The Tide Is High(夢みるNo.1)」は邦題通り、夢を見ているかのようなスロー・テンポのポップス。「Heart of Glass」はミドル・テンポのサウンドにデボラのボーカルがリズム良く乗っている。「Dreamin'」は流麗で一番カッコ良さを感じさせる佳曲。「Atomic」は少し変ったサウンドだが、印象に残る曲。現在、「はねトビ」のBGMに使われている...。この曲を指して、ニューウェイヴと呼んでいるのか ?

短い活動期間の間に良くこれだけヒットが飛ばせたと感心するが、その全貌が網羅された安心してお勧め出来るベスト盤。

ナンバーワン

いつか聴いた曲。勇気がわいた。泣いたときもあった。生きる力になった。一曲が人生を変えた。

Blondie is an American punk rock band led by singer Deborah Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. The band was a pioneer in the early American new wave and punk rock scenes. Their first two albums contained strong elements of these genres, and although successful in the United Kingdom and Australia, Blondie was regarded as an underground band in the United States until the release of Parallel Lines in 1978. In Canada, they were regarded as an underground band until the release of the subsequent album Eat to the Beat. Over the next three years, the band achieved several hit singles and was noted for its eclectic mix of musical styles incorporating elements of disco, pop and reggae, while retaining a basic style as a new wave band. The band broke up after the release of the 1982 album "The Hunter". Debbie Harry (although she took a few years off to care for her partner, Chris Stein, who had a life-threatening illness) became an extremely successful solo artist. Keyboardist Jimmy Destri also embarked on a solo career of his own with somewhat less success than Harry. [2] The group reformed in 1997, achieving renewed success and a number one single in the United Kingdom with "Maria" in 1999. The group toured and performed throughout the world over the following years, and was inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the RockWalk of Fame in 2006.
